THE GREENS’ BAFFLING BHS EMPIRE

-

BHS was run as a separate company when Sir Philip Green bought it in 2000 for £82m.

In 2009 BHS becomes part of his Arcadia empire which includes Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Top Shop.

Arcadia in turn is owned by Taveta Investments – a company owned by Lady Tina Green.

In total Taveta runs more than 70 different companies.

Dividends from Arcadia are paid to Lady Tina – but as she is based in Monaco she pays no tax on these.

Some of the BHS department store buildings were owned by the Greens through a company based in Jersey called Carmen Properties.

The BHS head office was owned by a company based in the British Virgin Islands owned by Lady Tina called Wilton Equity.

In 2015 the BHS HQ was bought by Arcadia (which is ultimately owned by Lady Tina) for £53m from her other company Wilton Equity.

BHS was sold by Arcadia to Retail Acquisitions run by Dominic Chappell for £1 in March 2015.

Carmen Properties was also sold to Retail Acquisitions for £70m.
