TED BAKER BUCKS TREND AS FLORALS BOOST SALES

-

WHILE other big fashion chains are struggling, demand for polka dot dresses and men’s floral shirts have boosted sales at Ted Baker.

In yet another strong trading period for the British fashion label, it reported an 11.3pc rise in sales in the 19 weeks to June 11 after strong online sales and new shop openings around the world.

The chain, which was founded by chief executive Ray Kelvin in the 1980s and opened its first shop in Glasgow in 1988, has opened stores in Beijing, Ottawa and Seattle recently and launched concession outlets in China, France, Germany, Japan and Spain. It has also opened stores in partnership under a licensing agreement in Azerbaijan, Egypt, Mexico and Taiwan.

Ted Baker has managed to grow sales which it puts down to strong design, brand and product. Kelvin said: ‘ These results demonstrate the strengths of the brand.’

He confirmed Ted Baker is on track to hit its fullyear targets and analysts at Liberum expect profit growth of between 12pc and 15pc for the year.

Shares were up 8.5pc, or 198p to 2523p.
