One law for Blair...
it is hard to imagine a more grotesque affront to justice. When the long-delayed Chilcot report is finally published on Wednesday, prosecutors will be scouring its pages for evidence of war crimes committed by British squaddies in the heat of battle in iraq.
Yet the international Criminal Court in the hague makes clear the Briton who bears heaviest responsibility for today’s carnage in the Middle East will escape prosecution for taking us to war on a lie.
says its spokesman: ‘the decision by the UK to go to war in iraq falls outside the court’s jurisdiction.’
thus, the soldiers whose lives Mr Blair gambled – some of whom have endured years of investigation since – must once again fear the authorities’ knock on the door, while the jet-setting former prime minister is left free to pursue his moneygrubbing from California to Kazakhstan.
one question: how can this be right?
