Jailed, speeding driver who put blame on sister

- By James Tozer

A BuSINeSS WOMAN who twice forged letters claiming her sister had been driving her car when she was caught speeding has been jailed after handwriting experts revealed she was lying.

Nosheen Sadaf, a single mother with a 12-year-old daughter, was sent to prison for six months for a ‘repeated, calculated and deliberate’ attempt to escape the consequences of her bad driving.

On both occasions, the 36-yearold faked a letter purporting to be from her sister in Pakistan and ‘admitting’ to being the driver of her luxury car. But her promising sales career is now in tatters after investigators became suspicious and rumbled her with the help of hand-writing experts.

Sadaf, who had previously been banned from driving for four months for totting up penalty points, was caught driving her BMW at 38mph in a 30mph zone on the A56 near Manchester in September 2014, Manchester Crown Court heard.

But she claimed her sister, now living in Pakistan, was driving the car at the time and had taken it without her permission. She sent a letter purporting to be from her sister, confessing to having been the driver, and the ticket was cancelled.

In March last year, Sadaf was again caught speeding, and again blamed her sister, the court heard, giving exactly the same excuse and with a similar letter.

But police became suspicious and called in handwriting experts who proved that Sadaf had written the letters herself on both occasions.

Sadaf, of Didsbury, Manchester, pleaded guilty to two counts of perjury.
