JEREMY Vine has released footage of a driver verbally abusing him and apparently kicking his bike after he cycled in front of her car.

The BBC presenter was confronted by the woman as he rode down the middle of a narrow street to avoid car doors.

In the shocking clip, the motorist can be seen getting out of the vehicle and telling the 51-year- old to ‘get the f*** out of the road’.

Vine posted footage of the incident, which was captured on his helmet and bike cameras, online yesterday and urged police to act.

He wrote on Facebook: ‘This happened on Friday. I hate to overload our hard-working London police with footage from my commute, but I feel the person you see on the tape will at some point hurt someone very badly – either with her car or in a direct personal assault. See what you think.’

The confrontation began with the Vauxhall driver, who had dyed red hair, beeping her horn after becoming frustrated with Vine cycling in the middle of the road in Kensington, West London.

Video taken from Vine’s bike shows cars lining both sides of the street. He says in the caption: ‘Advice for cyclists is to stay central to avoid car doors.’

However another camera on the rear of the bike shows a black Vauxhall revving close behind the Radio 2 host. Vine adds in the caption that he then slowed down to explain his behaviour to the driver, sayinghe is ‘concerned she is dangerous’.

She then yells from her car while throwing her arms in the air, shouting: ‘Why would you do that?’

Mr Vine calmly says: ‘There’s got to be a car’s width.’

The driver then jumps from the vehicle and shouts: ‘You don’t respect your f****** life.’

After appearing to kick and shake Vine’s bike, she screams: ‘I could have hit you and I would have been done for murder.

‘Get the f*** out the road. You lot p*** me off. F*** off!’ She then gets

‘Hand in the shape of a gun’

back in the car, and Vine’s footage shows him pulling up behind the driver at traffic lights further down the road.

She gets out of her car and approaches the broadcaster, who tells her: ‘Don’t assault me, you have already assaulted me.’

She replies: ‘If you take a picture of my car again, I’m going to knock you out, because that’s my personal belongings. Don’t f****** take a picture!’

The woman then storms back to her car and further captions describe another threatening gesture. Mr Vine wrote: ‘When I pull alongside this car the driver forms her hand in the shape of a gun, which she aims and fires at me.’

Facebook fans posted their support for the father of two, who has previously been knocked off his bike while on the roads.

Fiona McKenna wrote: ‘Picked on the wrong cyclist there,’ while Sue Malone added: ‘Her mother must be really proud of her.’

However, others offered some sympathy for the driver. John Webb wrote: ‘It’s a pain in the bum being stuck behind a cyclist on long narrow roads.’

But he added: ‘Tailgating and raging at the cyclist is hardly the answer though. I find the best thing is to try and remember when I was that cyclist.’

Yesterday Vine thanked people for their interest in the clip, but tweeted: ‘I think it’s better to leave @metpoliceuk to take this over.’

Vine, who cycles from his home in Chiswick, West London, to the BBC studios near Oxford Street, has been posting road incident videos on the internet since he was knocked off his bike in 2014.

The case went to court and the driver was fined £3,200.

Earlier this year, he was derided for his road safety campaigning after being pictured cycling through the streets without a helmet or high-visibility clothing.
