£90m Centrica contract

CARILLION shares rose more than 3pc yesterday after the company won a £90m contract with British Gas owner Centrica.

The FTSE 250 firm will provide a number of services to Centrica, including planning, maintenanc­e, cleaning, security and catering.

The work will be spread across Centrica’s 115 sites in the UK and Republic of Ireland and builds on work Car- illion has done for Centrica since 2005.

The contract will start in December and run for five years – although this could be extended to seven years under the terms of the deal.

Carillion shares rose 3.4pc or 8.9p to 270p.

Chief executive Richard Howson said: ‘ We have worked closely with Centrica since 2005 and built a strong partnershi­p.’
