Lancaster ends exile to take Leinster role

- By NIK SIMON

FORMER England coach Stuart Lancaster insists he is happy to play second fiddle at Leinster after taking his first job since last year’s failed World Cup campaign. Lancaster, 46 will report to Leo Cullen — eight years his junior — for the rest of the 2016-17 season as a defence specialist, under the job title of ‘senior coach’. After brief advisory roles with British Cycling, the FA, Atlanta Falcons and Ben Ainslie Racing, Lancaster said: ‘It’s never been about titles for me. ‘I don’t mind where I fit within the coaching team. I’m happy to help Leo and pass on what I’ve learned. ‘Also I don’t have to relocate my family. I can jump on a plane from Leeds/Bradford and be here in 45 minutes. It’s perfect.’ Kyle Eastmond, the centre left out of Lancaster’s World Cup squad, hopes to make his Wasps debut this weekend. Aviva Premiership newcomers Bristol are eyeing Kiwi utility back Jason Woodward, 26.
