Bizarre defence of City trader accused of rape

- By Chris Greenwood Crime Correspondent

A STOCKBROKER accused of raping a woman during a cocainefuelled night out said yesterday that she only started crying because of the size of his manhood.

Daniel Green, 26, told a court he was having consensual sex with the woman on the floor of his office when he saw a tear running down her cheek, which led him to stop.

The City trader said he then grabbed his clothes and left.

Green is accused of attacking the woman when a group went back to the offices of stockbroking firm StratX following a boozy night touring bars and clubs in Brixton, South London.

The alleged victim, now aged 29, had crawled under a desk in his office to sleep after missing her last train home, the jury heard.

She described how she allegedly woke up to find the stockbroker had removed some of her clothing and was trying to have sex with her.

Speaking in his defence at the Old Bailey yesterday, Green said he had ended up in the empty office because he had been looking for somewhere to charge his mobile phone.

He told the court the woman consented to sex but he quickly realised it was not possible because of the size of his penis.

In graphic testimony, he said: ‘She was touching me, she unbuttoned my shirt and she was touching me, also we were still kissing.

‘I saw a tear on her face so I jumped back. I always have difficulty when it comes to having sex with girls.’

When asked how large his manhood was, Green said it was 10in long and 4in in circumference.

Green claimed the woman said: ‘Can you leave? Just leave, just go.’ He then said he grabbed his clothes and left.

Earlier in the trial, the alleged victim said she did not consent to sex and woke up to find Green making ‘sexual noises’ behind her.

She said: ‘I absolutely didn’t consent to sex with Daniel – it was rape and I was trying to get away.’

She later informed a friend who in turn called the police.

Green, of Walthamstow, East London, denies a charge of rape on May 16 last year.

The trial continues.
