JOHN FENWICK, Warrington. WHY did the police take six hours negotiating with protesters on the runway of London City airport (Mail)? All police vehicles should be equipped with bolt-cutters, which should be used without hesitation.

D. ALLEN, Runcorn. Cheshire. WHERE was Boris’s water cannon when it was needed?

V. CURTIS, Newquay, Cornwall. HAVE we just seen a political Vaz-ectomy?

MIKE MARTIN, Christchurch, Dorset. KEITH VAZ did not sell very good washing machines if the newspapers managed to air his dirty laundry.

GERRY DOYLE, Liverpool. THE proof that the antioxidant beta-carotene improves eyesight (Mail) is the fact you never see a rabbit wearing glasses.

DECLAN ALFORD, Slough, Berks. THERESA MAY might have been sidelined in the G20 photo, but at least she will probably be in the next summit, which is more than can be said of Obama, Merkel and Hollande.

SANDRA PARSONS, Keston, Kent.
