Saints fight back to tame plucky Tigers

-

ST HELENS came from 10-6 down against injury-hit Castleford to make it nine wins from their last 10 matches and clinch a top-four finish in Super League. Boosted by the return of Australian scrumhalf Luke Walsh, Saints ran in seven tries to Castleford’s three to climb above Wigan into third place on points difference and keep alive their hopes of a home semi-final. It was their third win of the season over Cas, who had 13 players on the injury list and are still seeking their first away victory over St Helens since 1992 after a brave but fruitless battle against the odds. KIWI Jack Bauer won the fifth stage of cycling’s Tour of Britain after holding off the peloton at the finish in Bath. Bauer was in a breakaway group that led for the majority of the 194.5km stage starting in Aberdare, South Wales. DANE Magnus Cort Nielsen gave Orica-BikeExchange their third stage win of the Vuelta a Espana, winning a sprint finish. Overall leader Nairo Quintana takes a lead of 3min 37sec over Chris Froome into today’s 37km time trial.
