WATCHING BRIEF
CYCLING — 8.30pm: Jody Cundy, Jon-Allan Butterworth (C4/5 Kilo). Cundy seeks redemption. Favourite four years ago, he was judged to have false-started and exploded into a foul-mouthed rant. Butterworth, a former serviceman who had his arm amputated after a rocket attack, will chase him all the way.
ATHLETICS — 11.53pm: Jonnie Peacock (T44 100m final). Peacock produced one of the performances of London 2012 to win gold and his main rival, America’s Richard Browne, withdrew surprisingly a few months ago. But another American, Jarrod Wallace, will fancy his chances.
POWERLIFTING — 8pm: Ali Jawad (-59 kilogram). Born with no legs in Lebanon in 1989, his father was asked whether they should end Jawad’s life. He is the world champion but a Paralympic title has eluded him. TV: LIVE on Channel 4 1pm-6pm and 9pm-1am, More 4 6pm-7pm. Highlights 7.30pm.
