Darmian on way out

MATTEO DARMIAN could be heading out of Manchester United after the defender’s relationship with Jose Mourinho reached ‘complete breakdown’. The 26-year-old Italy full back only arrived at Old Trafford from Torino a year ago, but has quickly fallen down the pecking order since Mourinho took over from Louis van Gaal. Darmian was not included in United’s 18-man squad at Bournemouth on the opening day, indicating that he was not part of Mourinho’s long-term plans. According to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, things between Darmian and the United manager have never recovered. Juventus are said to be monitoring the situation with a view to a loan move that would include an option for a permanent deal. However, United would demand £17million for Darmian, an asking price the Italian champions are not prepared to pay.
