Daring Madge steals show on the school run

- By Alexander Ward

WHEN you’re 16 you don’t expect mum to be turning up at the school gates on your first day back after the summer holidays.

But when you are Madonna’s son it’s probably best to be resigned to her taking centre stage.

Looking typically glamorous in a daring sheer blouse and tight black skirt, the 58-year-old singer was in London as son Rocco returned to Hampstead Fine Arts College.

And, in another potentially cringeworthy moment for Rocco, his mother showed a rather American over- familiarity with head teacher Candida Cave as they walked arm in arm yesterday.

Madonna recently settled her custody battle over her son with former husband Guy Ritchie, who has jetted off to Malibu for a weeklong holiday at the house of rock star Sting.

She is said to be worried about Rocco being left without parental support during his first weeks of the new school year. It is also understood she is concerned that he was missing lessons last year.

A source close to the star said: ‘She said there are a few things more important than education, such as being a parent and being present in your child’s life during their important milestones for guidance.

‘Rocco’s a kind and loving young man but he’s also a teenager and a free spirit, a bit like his mother, which means that he needs clear guidance on what’s important at this crucial stage in his life.’

Shaven-headed Rocco was spotted enjoying his final days of summer as she strolled around London with pals before heading back to school. He showed none of his mother’s passion for fashion and was sporting typical student gear – pink T-shirt, baggy jeans and trainers.
