WORRIED ABOUT GOING IT ALONE? TRY A SOLO-FRIENDLY SHIP
SOCIABLE SAILINGS
MORE than a third of Saga’s passengers travel solo, so it employs Solo Hosts to do the introductions. There’s a wide range of single cabins and suites, and social gatherings before each port of call. Saga recently launched its third cruise designed just for solo cruisers.
DETAILS: The seven-night Spring- time Colours of the Rhine cruise departs on March 28, 2017, and costs £999pp (travel.saga.co.uk).
CHILD-FREE ZONE
SOLO cruisers will love P&O’s Arcadia — an adults-only ship. It has 3,000 pieces of art aboard. There are coffee mornings to help people meet, and the spa, which has a large thermal suite, in which to unwind.
DETAILS: P&O Cruises’ five-night Western Europe cruise on Arcadia costs from £ 99pp, departing from and returning to Southampton (pocruises.com).
STATEROOMS FOR ONE
NORWEGIAN Cruise Line has made solo cruising cool. Norwegian Epic, which took to the seas in 2010, was its first ship with staterooms designed solely for solo cruisers. The cabins are located within a private keycard-accessed complex with lounge and bar area, designed to encourage solo cruisers to mingle.
DETAILS: The seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Norwegian Epic starts from £2,799pp, including flights from the UK to Port Canaveral in Florida, departing on November 26, 2016 (ncl.co.uk).
