HILLARY AND MY ‘RAPIST’

-

KATHY Shelton was just 12 when she was the victim of a sex attack in Arkansas in 1975.

Her 41- year- old attacker was accused of rape and represented by a court-appointed lawyer – Hillary Rodham, then in her late 20s, and seven months before she married Bill Clinton.

The young defence lawyer wrote in legal documents that the victim was ‘emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older men and engage in fantasizing’.

Miss Shelton said she was put ‘through hell’ by the court process, in which evidence against factory worker Thomas Alfred Taylor was thrown out.

The charge of first- degree rape was lowered to ‘unlawful fondling of a minor’ and he served less than a year in prison. He died in 1992.

A recently unearthed audio tape recorded Mrs Clinton laughing as she described Taylor’s case.

She is heard saying: ‘It was a fascinating case... This guy was accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.

‘Of course he claimed that he didn’t, and all this stuff. He took a lie detector test. I had him take a polygraph, which he passed, which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs (laughter).’

Miss Shelton said injuries she suffered in the sex attack left her unable to have children.

She told the Trump press conference: ‘Hillary put me through something that you would never put a 12-year-old through.’

Miss Shelton, now 54, has previously attacked Mrs Clinton’s claims to champion women.

Speaking to MailOnline in August, she said: ‘ What happens if that daughter of yours, if that would have been her [who was assaulted].

‘You would have protected her. You don’t know me, so I’m a piece of cr*p to you. Who cares about me, as long as you can win your first case as an attorney?’

She added: ‘I don’t think she’s for women or girls. I think she’s lying. I think she said anything she can to get in the campaign and win.’ Miss Shelton, who was raised by a single mother in Springdale, Arkansas, still lives in the town and said it took decades before she realised the former First Lady was the same woman who defended her alleged rapist. She added: ‘Every time I see [Clinton] on TV, I just want to reach in there and grab her.’

During the Trump press conference, she spoke of her anger that Mrs Clinton had laughed on the tape, as she believed it meant the presidential candidate knew she had defended a guilty man.

Mrs Clinton has called the Taylor trial a ‘terrible case’ but has insisted her work at the University of Arkansas Legal Aid Clinic meant she had to defend the factory worker.

She said: ‘I had a professional duty to represent my client to the best of my ability, which I did.’ She has denied she was laughing about her client’s guilt, or the victim’s ordeal.

Miss Shelton was paid $ 2,500 (£2,025) in May by a political action committee founded by Trump ally Roger Stone, it emerged last night.

Mr Stone said she was ‘paid for her time’ after she was extensively interviewed about her experiences.
