Evans ‘rape victim told her ex-lover: Rip my clothes off ’

- By Ben Wilkinson

A FORMER lover of the waitress who accused footballer Ched Evans of rape said she had drunkenly demanded sex 48 hours earlier.

He said the young woman had sent him a text while he was in bed which read: ‘I want to tear you apart.’

The man, who cannot be identified, told jurors the 19-year- old’s confidence in bed that night ‘shocked’ him, adding that she ‘dictated’ unprotected sex in different positions and told him: ‘Go harder’.

He told the rape retrial that he had a brief but ‘purely sexual’ relationship with the young woman after meeting online.

The jury heard the teenage waitress stayed at the man’s house two nights before the alleged rape by the footballer in the Premier Inn in 2011 – and demanded he ‘rip her clothes off’.

The man, who was in his 20s at the time, said he had ‘reluctantly’ picked her up from a nightclub in Rhyl, North Wales, after they exchanged a series of text messages while she was out with friends.

The witness told Cardiff Crown Court: ‘We went back to my house. My initial reaction was to get straight back to bed because I knew that I had to be up in the next couple of hours for work.

‘The relationship that we had was purely based on sex. She was expecting sex to happen as soon as we got into the house.

She turned to me and said: “Are you not even going to rip my clothes off?” ‘She started initiating sex. She came on to me... she then dictated how it went about.’ The witness was giving evidence at the retrial of former Sheffield United striker Evans, 27, who won the right to a retrial after having his conviction for rape quashed at the Court of Appeal.

The former Wales international denies rape. The waitress, now 24, says she has no memory of what happened in the hotel room and is convinced her drink was spiked.

Her former lover told how the woman was ‘a lot more confident’ sexually that night in May five years ago.

He said: ‘There had been a break between that time and the previous that I had slept with her, so I was a bit shocked at how much more confident she was.’

He added: ‘She said “go harder”. She repeated it.’

Evans had previously told the jury the woman said ‘**** me harder’ during the alleged rape. The court heard the man and the waitress exchanged Facebook messages after the alleged rape.

She told him: ‘Long story short I may have been spiked on Sunday night and attacked.

‘I can’t remember anything. I feel horrible and I don’t even want to go home. I need to see you. I feel so embarrassed. I wanted to tell you in person. You may need to see the police. I’ve only slept with you so they may need to do swabs to rule you out. Sorry about this.’

The man told the court that he did not know Evans personally and denied he was motivated to give evidence by a £50,000 reward. He said: ‘If that was my motive, to take a reward, I’ve got a lot more to lose than to gain.

‘I do a well-paid job. I could earn that money in less than 12 months and I hope to be in that job for the next 20 years.’

Evans, who plays for League One side Chesterfield, has told the jury that he let himself into the hotel room where the alleged rape took place without knocking.

His friend and fellow footballer, Clayton McDonald, and the woman were having sex, he said.

‘They both looked at me. Clay looked at her and said: “Can my mate join in?” She looked at me and said: ‘Yes.”’ He says the sex was consensual and denies rape.

The trial continues.
