WHY PEP WAVED BYE-BYE TO WI-FI

- By JACK GAUGHAN

PEP Guardiola’s decision to cut the internet connection inside Manchester City’s training ground was made after one player was caught on his phone while having a massage, according to sergio aguero. Guardiola switched off the wi-fi to build team spirit. He hopes his squad will concentrate on communicating with each other rather than being glued to their mobiles in eastlands. There is also limited 3G reception inside the training ground and aguero has revealed that the unorthodox move was in response to something the manager had seen. aguero said: ‘it seems that one time, Guardiola entered the massage rooms and saw one of my team-mates, i don’t know who it was, relaxing with his phone and, i don’t know, maybe he did not like it. ‘He had cut the internet. in the changing room, massage room and pool we don’t have the internet. upstairs there is a little bit of 3G.’ Mood in the City camp is high after their storming start to this season under Guardiola, with 10 consecutive wins in all competitions before a draw at Celtic and defeat at Tottenham. The Catalan chooses to talk almost exclusively in english to the players, who are encouraged to do similar with each other. aguero, meanwhile, is fearing the axe from argentina’s next World Cup qualifying squad after missing a penalty in their home defeat by Paraguay on Tuesday night. The 28-year-old has failed to find the net in six games for his country, a record at odds with a record in front of goal for City. There were concerns about his calf in the days before the 1-0 loss against Paraguay, but aguero declared himself fit. afterwards, however, the striker admitted he would not be surprised if edgardo Bauza dropped him for crunch ties away in Brazil and at home against Colombia next month. ‘i’m not doing things right,’ aguero said. ‘if i’m not in, i’ll take it in the best way.’
