BAE in warships deal
BAE Systems has struck a deal with the Ministry of Defence to begin making eight anti- submarine warships by next summer.
The Government had committed to building the Type 26 frigates as part of the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review but had not agreed a timetable. Yesterday, in a visit to the firm’s shipyard in Glasgow, Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the deal will secure ‘ hundreds of skilled jobs until 2035’.
