A very gilded Christmas for Vogue girls’ glossy posse

-

Who says fashionistas are out of touch with the real world? Staff members of glossy magazine Vogue have shared their festive plans and luxury holiday essentials.

Emily Sheffield, deputy editor of Vogue and sister of Samantha Cameron, reveals that no sartorial expense will be spared when she dusts down her wardrobe on the 25th.

‘I do like to dress up, which is usually vintage and red themed,’ says the daughter of 8th baronet Sir Reginald Sheffield and Viscountess Astor.

‘This year, it’s going to be a vintage red boucle wool Chanel skirt and cream vintage Celine shirt with Balenciaga boots.’

Just goes to show that Vogue staff are not immune to product placement — even on Christmas Day.

And the magazine’s editor Alexandra Shulman won’t even have to baste her own turkey as she will be dining out at the chic Wolseley in Piccadilly. ‘This is the first time ever I have had Christmas lunch in a restaurant,’ says Shulman. ‘I already know of ten others eating there, so I’m expecting it will be like a party I haven’t had to organise.’

Meanwhile, Naomi Smart, Vogue shopping editor, will open her stocking in bed ‘wearing my new olivia Von halle personalised PJs’, before changing into her Christmas best. ‘My new black crystal Manolo Blahnik ankle boots are basically Christmas in a shoe,’ she adds, ‘and I’ll be wearing them with black cashmere and jeans.

‘We’re also BAFTA members and get to see all of the movies before release, which is the dream, cosied up next to an open fire.’

Like her boss, Vogue editor-at-large Fiona Golfar will also be dining out at a restaurant. ‘The bit I’m most looking forward to is going home after lunch and watching screenings of next year’s movies — with no mess to clear up,’ she says.

Naomi Pike, Vogue digital editorial assistant, adds that her father will serve his own lunch ‘ on a Ralph Lauren serving platter, not a standard plate — his response: “It’s Christmas!”’
