IN THE Freeview premiere of season 15, Benson remains the prisoner of William Lewis, who drags her from place to place, committing terrible acts as he goes. Her team, including Rollins, are on the case, but this is a tough experience for Benson — and the viewer.

FOR the 100th episode, Watson and Holmes are put up for an award — she wants the recognitio­n, but he really, really doesn’t. That sounds small, but it places their relationsh­ip under great strain, and gives the series its best characterb­ased instalment for a while.

MODERN HISTORY Mussolini, Monuments And Modernism, 10pm, BBC4

JONATHAN MEADES is always worth listening to, even if it isn’t immediatel­y obvious what he’s talking about. Here, Meades delivers his perspectiv­e on Fascism and the architectu­re it leads to — there is a lot to unpack in every sentence, and the glint of humour is rarely far from his eyes.
