40 demands for builder forced to shelter bats

When Redrow won permission for 110 homes in Bristol in 2015 it was faced with 40 demands from the council. They included:

Putting fences around five silver birch trees and getting approval for the type of fences used Getting approval for roadworks Working out a traffic management system Getting permission to move any foliage that could be home to nesting birds Filing an ecologist report to protect slow worms Measures to protect hedgehogs Building 22 bird boxes and ten bat boxes Doing a flood risk assessment Taking photos of any existing buildings which need to be demolished

Reporting on colours and details of window, door and garage lintels

Supplying the council with colours and textures of building materials Car parking Making provision for cycle paths Access for electric car charging points
