- By Rebecca Camber Crime Correspondent

a Besotted stalker who plagued socialite Jemima Khan with messages for nearly two years told a court yesterday that his victim was just a ‘silly woman who doth protest too much’.

Conor o’Mahoney, 60, hand- delivered letters to her home, deluged her with messages five times a day and even arranged for a taxi to pick her up at home so she could meet him at a hotel.

Yesterday he admitted harassment at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court in a hearing during which he claimed to have a letter from the Queen in his defence.

o’Mahoney had previously received a caution in November 2015 for pestering Miss Khan on twitter five times a day and approaching her outside a hotel to ask her out for dinner. But he has continued his 19-month stalking campaign which has caused her ‘serious harm and distress’. But, in February last year, the stalker started travelling to the home of the 43-year-old daughter of billionaire sir James Goldsmith, the court heard.

He once tweeted: ‘I am knocking, your lights are on but no one is home.’

But o’Mahoney, of deal, Kent, told the judge: ‘I have been very helpful with this trivial matter with this silly woman who doth protest too much, me thinks.’

Brandishing a letter in the dock, he said: ‘I have a letter here from Her Majesty the Queen, I hope to make progress.’

davis Freedman, defending, suggested skin cancer medication ‘interfered’ with o’Mahoney’s ‘ balance’. Miss Khan, the former wife of Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan. was not in court to see her stalker plead guilty.

district Judge Kwame Inyundo bailed o’Mahoney, diagnosed as bipolar in 1999, and ordered pre-sentence reports.

He was told to return for sentence on March 13 and ordered not to contact Miss Khan.
