Brexit gloom? We’re world’s 3rd best country

-

BRITAIN has remained third in a list of the best countries in the world – the highestranked in the European Union – despite perceived fears over Brexit.

The results suggest doom-mongering predictions of a negative impact from last June’s referendum never materialised.

Germany dropped from top to fourth fol- lowing attacks and growing concern over the influx of refugees.

The study’s authors – US News & World Report, the Pennsylvania University’s Wharton School and consultants BAV Consulting – attributed fears over worldwide instability as a driving factor in the results.

Eighty countries were evaluated across criteria such as economic influence, citizenship and quality of life.

Switzerland took top spot with Canada, which was first for quality of life, in second place overall. In the survey of more than 21,000 people, Britain was seen as more politically influential and better connected to the rest of the world than Germany.
