WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?, 8PM, BBC1

SOPHIE RAWORTH (pictured) grew up in a house where the walls were covered with pictures of her family and ancestors, but, somewhat bizarrely, she knows very little about them. And so, for the final episode of the series, the newsreader sets out to put that right with a touching journey down her father’s side of the tree. She is soon surprised to find both pianos and pineapples playing significant roles, before discovering a case of long-term mistaken identity. But perhaps the story she finds most affecting is that of an ancestor who, in 1793, took the brave decision to risk everything and take his young family across the Atlantic in search of a new life. It was a bold move, but one that would take a tragic turn.
