Wearing 4½in heels at 6 months pregnant ... is that wise, Amal?

WALKING in stilettos may be unwise when you’re six months pregnant – and carrying twins.

That hasn’t stopped Amal Clooney, who made her way to work in fourand-a-half-inch heels this week.

The 39-year-old human rights lawyer, who is expecting a boy and a girl, looked as glamorous as ever as she to went to address the United Nations in New York on Wednesday.

While her baby bump may not have looked particularly prominent, experts say that her choice of sky-high footwear offers little support and is a risky choice for an expectant mother.

Podiatrist Adnan Nazir, of the London Foot Clinic, said: ‘During pregnancy you have an increase in weight gain which can cause your central gravity to increase. If the patient falls over it can injure the baby, so the best thing to wear would be flat footwear such as trainers, as they are more supportive – or something with a strap or a lace.’

However, Mrs Clooney, wife of movie star George, is not alone in opting for high heels while pregnant – she is following in the footsteps of the Duchess of Cambridge, Angelina Jolie and Beyonce.
