So that’s why my baggage turned up in such a mess!

- By Neil Sears

MANY travellers are left mystified when their carefully packed suitcase is a mess when they collect it at the airport.

Or maybe cherished items are broken or the luggage just fails to arrive on the bag carousel.

The culprits could be luggage handlers whose approach is decidedly slapdash, like these two characters at Luton Airport.

In a video, they were caught tossing an entire hold-full of bags into the back of a truck. Some cases were sent spinning through the air as others fall onto the ground, apparently unnoticed.

Any bottles of wine, glassware or other fragile items could have been smashed.

The video was uploaded to Facebook by Swedish tattoo artist Jonas Ozolinas, who said: ‘Hope these idiots get… fired.’

Last night it emerged that the pair work for Menzies Aviation, a contractor which handles luggage at most UK airports including for easyJet at Luton.

A Menzies spokesman said: ‘The behaviour in this video is unacceptable and an investigation is under way.

‘We will take whatever action is necessary to ensure that such behaviour is stopped.’

A spokesman for easyJet said: ‘We work closely with all our partners to ensure passengers’ bags are handled securely.’
