MISSING . . .

-

THE DAILY MAIL offers readers a unique opportunity to re-establish contact with long-lost relatives and friends. Each week, MONICA PORTER features the story of someone trying to find a missing loved one, as well as a tale of people reunited. This column is produced in conjunction with the voluntary tracing service Searching For A Memory, run by Gill and John Whitley.

‘I’m hopIng you can help me trace the girls in this picture,’ writes Janet Little ( nee Coleclough). ‘It was taken at my 14th birthday on november 5, 1961.

‘I’m in the front row, second from left, next to my sister, gill.

‘most of us girls attended Baguley hall Secondary modern in manchester. They are: margaret mason, norma Barlow, Dorothy Baker (with whom I’m in contact), Jennifer Blagden, Dorothy Taylor, Jennifer Conroy, Carol heathcote, monica Wallace, Angela prescott, Christine pilkington and Kathleen Kelly (we share the same birthday). The “real cool” girl is Christine’s cousin.

‘After leaving school, I attended a secretarial course in Trafford park and went on to work in an estate agency. In 1970, I married Roy Day, who was at school with us and whom I’m sure some of the girls will remember.

‘ We have two sons, two lovely daughters-in-law and three fabulous grandsons. We divorced in 1978 and, sadly, Roy died in 1987.

‘Though we kept in touch for a while, I don’t know anything about the other girls, apart from Dorothy Baker and margaret mason, who worked at the Duchess of York’s Children’s hospital from 1986 to 1989.

‘I remarried in 2003 and live in Anglesey. As we’ll all be 70 next year, I’m hoping we’ll be able to organise a reunion. many thanks for your help.’
