Drones for shipwrecks

-

A MAJOR insurer is using drones to inspect shipwrecks and accident scenes to slash inspection times in claims for damages.

Assessors at Charles Taylor working on major ocean collisions used to spend weeks on remote islands struggling to piece together what happened. But technology is speeding up the process as they deploy drones and use satellites to build up a detailed picture of each accident involving its clients.

Charles Taylor’s chief executive David Marock said some of the insurance firm’s loss adjusters are now licensed drone pilots.
