Tbilisi sell-out a tipping point

DID you notice those pictures on Twitter of the 55,000 capacity crowd in Tbilisi for Georgia’s annual game against Russia? They contrasted with the acres of empty seats at the Olympic Stadium in Rome for Italy’s match with France, a dead rubber in the Six Nations of no relevance and little interest. We are at a tipping point in the development of Test rugby. It can either contract or expand. I welcome World Rugby’s global fixture list for 2020 onwards which offers much more encouragement for the second-tier countries and trust it is the beginning of something more ambitious.
