CAPTAIN SHOULD BE MOST-CAPPED

WITH Wayne Rooney’s days as England captain looking numbered I was pleased to see Gareth Southgate not getting too hung up on who should be the next skipper.

If I had to pick a captain it would be Dele Alli but the captaincy has little bearing on making England a better team. All the armband seems to do is heap pressure upon the player wearing it.

If I were Gareth, for each match I would simply give the armband to the player in the starting XI with the most caps.
