Guess who’s won our coveted Pointless trophy?

-

The behaviour of the Toytown Tartanistas during Mother Theresa’s Article 50 announcement on Wednesday was predictably disgraceful.

When P. G. Wodehouse remarked that it’s never difficult to distinguish between a Scotsman with a grievance and a ray of sunshine, he could have been describing Angus Robertson, the SNP’s leader in the Commons. It was a momentous occasion, whichever side of the referendum you were on, not a time for puerile gurning and heckling.

But Angus and his wee gang tried to make it all about them, proving what a bunch of political pygmies they are. I sincerely hope the reports that say May is going to buy off the SNP by giving them even more powers is wide of the mark.

You can’t negotiate with these self-righteous prigs. They’ll simply bank any concessions then carry on squealing about independence until they’re blue in the face — like their hero William Wallace. At least Alex Salmond made mischief at Westminster with a grin. Which is why, along with Wee Burney, Salmond is about the only Scots Nat anyone recognises.

Robertson clearly thinks he’s some kind of political colossus. So I’m guessing he was too busy to catch the popular teatime quiz show Pointless this week. Contestants’ answers are judged against the responses of 100 people given 100 seconds to come up with a reply to each question. The lowest score wins. So the more obscure the answer, the greater chance of success. In the final round, a pointless answer wins the jackpot.

On Wednesday, the finalists were asked to name any SNP MP elected in 2015. They answered Alex Salmond. Unfortunately, 33 people had also said Salmond. If the contestants had said Angus Robertson, they’d have won £6,000.

None of the 100 people asked before the show could name him. he’s the leader of the third biggest party at Westminster, always on TV, but no one outside the political bubble has ever heard of him. All you need to know about Angus Robertson? he’s completely Pointless.
