SKY BUYS VIDEO WEBSITE CELEBS LOVE TO STAR ON
AN INTERNET video service which has 15m subscribers and has lured stars such as Megan Fox and Jamie Oliver has been snapped up by Sky.
Diagonal View produces videos that are between two and five minutes long for YouTube and racks up more than 200m views a month. Some shows have become internet sensations – including Football Daily and Alltime10s, a show of top- ten quirky facts. One of these, on the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was hosted by Hollywood star Fox.
Diagonal View founder Matt Heiman, 44, who uploaded his first video in 2008, titled The World’s Biggest Kebab, will stay on along with 65 staff.
Telecoms giant Sky hopes the acquisition – for an undisclosed sum – will boost its own reach into online video.
