THE National Association of Schoolmasters yesterday continued its attack on women teachers. The previous day it had declared that women were unfit to instruct boys in games. Mr C. Freeborough, of Surrey, said that the training of women students in boys’ schools was an insidious move towards the elimination of men teachers. Women, he said, managed boys by bribery.

She refused an honorary Oscar as she could not collect it due to her fear of flying. LEONA LEWIS, 32. The former office assistant topped the charts in 36 countries with her hit Bleeding Love after winning the third series of The X Factor, while her first album, Spirit, became the UK’s fastest- selling debut. Once a waitress in Pizza Hut and a former winner of Europe’s Sexiest Vegetarian, Leona says the secret to her clear skin is drinking up to five green juices a day.

MARLON BRANDO (19242004). The U. S actor (pictured) won Oscars for The Godfather and On The Waterfront. In 1990, Brando’s son Christian shot dead his half-sister’s boyfriend at the actor’s mansion because he believed the man had attacked her. He served five years in jail for manslaughter. LESLIE HOWARD (1893-1943). The English matinee idol starred in Gone With The Wind (as Ashley Wilkes, the plantation owner pursued by Scarlett O’Hara). He lived in Los Angeles, but returned to Britain to make war propaganda broadcasts. He was killed when his civilian plane was shot down by the Luftwaffe.
