Let’s go f ly a bike? Mary Poppins on a magical bicycle ride

- By Tammy Hughes

SHE usually flies by umbrella – but it seems Mary Poppins has more than one trick up her sleeve in the sequel, with characters appearing to take to the skies on bicycles.

As she rode her bike through the London fog during filming, Emily Blunt looked practically perfect as the nanny.

The 34-year-old actress was filming for Mary Poppins Returns outside Buckingham Palace, wearing a dark blue coat and pink hat with her patterned carpet bag.

Meanwhile co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays street lamplighter Jack in the film, wore a brown suit with a flat cap pulled down over his face.

Miss Blunt takes over from Julie Andrews as the nanny in the £150million movie, which is set 25 years after the original.

It continues the story of Jane and Michael Banks – now played by Emily Mor- timer and Ben Whishaw – and Michael’s three children.

The nanny, who is based on PL Travers’ children’s books, returns to the Banks family after they suffer a personal loss. Dick Van Dyke – who played chimney sweep Burt in the 1964 original – is set to make an appearance in the sequel.
