I have a new lease of life

-

After five years of NHS aids, Frank Henry went private - and never looked back. Despite being a doctor himself, it took Frank some time to face up to his own hearing loss. His problems had become apparent when he struggled to hear the television but he confesses it took him some time to admit to the extent of the issue. "I couldn't hear what was being said on the TV and my wife would complain that I had the volume turned up too loud," he says. "When people rang on the phone I'd often pass the handset to her, as I had difficulty making out what the caller was saying." His own GP referred him to an NHS clinic, but he soon found the hearing aids they gave him failed to improve the problem. "I suffered frequent squealing noises, especially in a car," he says. "When I went cycling or walking with friends the crackling noise in my ears was so bad I had to turn them off completely. I was having to fiddle with my hearing aids all the time and use the phone on loudspeaker too." Thanks to Amplifon, his life has been transformed and he knows help is never far away should he need it. "The back-up support has been excellent," he says. "I just pop in to see Kara if I ever have a question." He has also been impressed by the technology involved in giving him better hearing "Its so nifty being able to use my iPhone to adjust the controls of my hearing aids, to suit whatever situation I'm in," he adds. "At last I feel that Gm able to talk to my grandchildren on the phone and hear what they're saying" For Frank, there is no doubt that his hearing and quality of life have significantly improved thanks to Amplifon. "If you've got hearing aids from the NHS that work then fine, but for many going private is a sensible choice," he says. "My Amplifon hearing aids have certainly given me a new lease of life." .
