Januzaj backed to silence boos
DAVID MOYES has told Adnan Januzaj to start showing Sunderland fans why they’re wrong to boo him. Januzaj, 22, on loan from Manchester United, was substituted in the second half at Watford and jeered as the Premier League’s bottom side went a fifth game without scoring.
‘The best way to do it is to score goals and make goals and then it is much easier,’ Moyes said. ‘He does need encouragement because he is a talent. We are giving Adnan an opportunity and he has got to take it.’ Last season, Sunderland spent 237 days in the relegation zone but survived, and Moyes hopes he can repeat that escape act. ‘We showed them the other day how it has been done in the last two or three years,’ Moyes said. ‘The players know it is possible.’
Miguel Britos scored the winner, his first goal for Watford, ending a run of four games without a win.
