Wholemeal pasta with sardines and tomatoes

SERVES 4 350g wholemeal pasta twists or spaghetti 2 x 120g can sardines or pilchards in tomato sauce 2 x 400g can chopped plum tomatoes with onion Handful of fresh basil leaves Mixed salad, to serve COOK the pasta in boiling water for 8-10 minutes, or until just tender. Flake the sardines or pilchards into large pieces and remove any bones. Reserve the tomato sauce from the cans. Put the drained pasta back into the saucepan with 3 tbsp of the cooking liquid. Add the chopped tomatoes, flaked sardines/pilchards and reserved tomato sauce. Reheat until piping hot. Season to taste. Spoon onto plates and scatter with fresh basil. Serve with a mixed salad.
