THE competition in which professional pastry chefs showcase their ‘patisserie prowess’ in a bid to be crowned the best of the best returns, this time presented by an unlikely host, the delightfully droll Angus Deayton. Tonight, the first five teams set out to craft exquisite cakes, stunning desserts and mouthwatering centrepieces in the hope of impressing two of the world’s most successful pastry chefs, Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin (pictured with Angus). Their first challenge is to rustle up two batches of identical layered miniatures — 36 of each. Should be a piece of cake . . .
