How child-friendly superyachts put Sunseeker into profit

-

ITS superyachts used to be the preserve of playboy bachelors – but Sunseeker is having to tailor its multi-million pound vessels for families.

The Dorset boat builder, Britain’s biggest, has changed its range of yachts to be more child-friendly and has seen turnover rocket as a result. Sales jumped 25pc to £252.4m in 2016, and the firm moved from a £4m loss to a £6m profit.

The success is also down to its new line-up of boats which feature a ‘beach club’ at the back where families can cook a barbecue by the water’s edge and keep an eye on the children as they swim. The boats also have a more informal design with the galley – the onboard kitchen – moved upstairs so meals can be prepared and eaten on deck.
