It’s Britain’s latest must-have hairdo: May’s Brexit bob!

-

FIRST came ‘ the Farrah Fawcett’, then ‘the Rachel’ and finally ‘the Pob’. Now there’s another must-have hairstyle in town: introducing ‘the Theresa’.

The Prime Minister’s latest hairstyle – a sleek, short ‘power bob’ – is becoming the go-to do for women inspired by its low maintenance, nononsense style.

And celebrity hairdressers including Nicky Clarke and Richard Ward say they have seen an increase in ladies asking for the dramatic chop. Yesterday Mr Ward, the man behind the Duchess of Cambridge’s glossy locks, said: ‘We have had a lot of people coming in asking for that haircut since Tuesday because, finally, Theresa has got it absolutely right.

‘It is a lower-maintenance haircut that suits her lifestyle, and is more of a power cut without looking too severe.’

Mrs May’s cut is understood to have cost £28, and was done by her local hairdresser, Alan Williamson, at The Hair Company in Wargrave, Berkshire.

Hairdressing chains including Toni and Guy, Headmasters and Regis have also all seen a surge of interest in The Theresa.

And top coiffeur Mr Clarke, whose clients have included Kate Moss, David Bowie and Princess Diana, said: ‘This is a well-groomed, confident sort of look.’

Late American actress Farrah Fawcett’s blown back curls became the most sought-after hairdo of the seventies, while Jennifer Aniston’s perfectly blowdried locks in Friends were known as ‘The Rachel’ after her character.

In 2006 Victoria Beckham’s bob – aka ‘The Posh Bob’ or ‘Pob’ – became the most requested hairstyle of that year.
