Exposed cheat trashed home of Avon lady lover
She told his family on Xmas Day
A MARRIED man trashed the home of an Avon lady he was having an affair with after she exposed their relationship to his family on Christmas Day.
Kevin Skelton, 37, had a fling with Kirsty Watson when his 18- month marriage went through a ‘difficult period’, a court heard.
After Skelton ended the affair by text message, Miss Watson threatened to send pictures of them together to his wife.
When she did send the images to Skelton’s wife and mother, he went to her home when she was out, forced his way in and caused more than £700 of damage in an ‘explosion of anger’, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
He pulled a television off the wall in her bedroom, smashed a glass table and damaged her drawers. In her living room he smashed a clock and another table.
Fiona Lamb, defending, claimed that Skelton was subjected to a ‘considerable amount of provocation’ before he went to Miss Watson’s house. She said: ‘He was always honest with the complainant, he told her he was married.
‘The complainant threatened to send photographs of them to his wife. It caused the defendant a great deal of upset and stress.’
Skelton, of North Shields, pleaded guilty to burglary.
Judge Robert Spragg told Skelton: ‘You had an affair with the victim, who was an Avon lady, that is how you got in touch with her.
‘That relationship didn’t last long, you ended the relationship by text on Christmas Day 2016.
‘Further contact was then by text message to your mother and your partner, including photographs being sent.
‘Your partner was obviously very angry with you and you got angry because you felt you were being blackmailed to continue the relationship.
’ The court heard that Miss Watson’s message to Skelton’s mother read: ‘Merry Christmas. Been with him a month.’
Skelton was sentenced to a community order for 18 months with rehabilitation requirements, plus £780 compensation.
