Our top TV night in? Game of Thrones, of course!

THEY are often guarded about their private lives – but the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge yesterday opened up about life behind the palace doors.

William and Kate revealed what their favourite takeaways were, which TV box- sets they liked to watch and even how William sends song requests to radio stations.

In a light-hearted interview with BBC Radio 1, DJ Scott Mills spoke to the couple about their lives away from the royal spotlight.

The prince said he and his wife were keen on watching box- sets when ‘the kiddies’ – George, three, and Charlotte, who turns two next month – were in bed, with Homeland and Game of Thrones their favourite programmes. But they admitted that the younger royals were very much in charge of the television, with Fireman Sam a big hit at the moment.

William, 34, said: ‘ Our daughter gets really upset if you’re not showing due diligence to the characters.’

Kate, 35, told Mills that they also enjoyed a takeaway, with curry their top choice – even though William was ‘not so good with spicy food’.

But they don’t raise eyebrows by sending delivery drivers to their Kensington Palace home.

The prince admitted: ‘It doesn’t usually get ordered to the palace to be honest, normally someone goes and picks it up.’

And when asked what they wore for a night in, William told Mills: ‘I’ve got my comfy clothes, yes. I don’t know if they’re the same as what you wear though.’

The prince also referred to his ski trip to Verbiers in the Alps with friends last month, when he was filmed ‘dad dancing’ in a nightclub after skipping a Commonwealth Day church service. Telling Mills he would like to go to Glastonbury music festival, William added: ‘I’ve got into enough trouble with my dancing recently. So it’s probably best to stay away from that one.’

The couple spoke about the music that they enjoyed, revealing the last concert they attended was a Coldplay gig at Wembley.

Mills asked: ‘Do you ever think, “If I wore a comedy beard and hat I could go into that crowd?”’

William responded: ‘ It has crossed our mind – who’s to say we haven’t done that already?’ And the prince said he often texted song requests under a fake name so that he could get shoutouts from Radio 1 DJs.

‘I got a shout-out the other day from Adele [Roberts], and one ages ago from Sara Cox,’ he said.

‘I felt very privileged. I’m probably on the edge of [Radio 1’s] age limit, I’m probably supposed to go on Radio 2 now but I’m hanging on in there.’

The royals also said they had attended Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival in Bangor, North Wales, in 2010, with William saying he had been given ‘a very sweaty man hug’ by pop star Tinie Tempah.

Mills also asked the prince who would win in a fight between him and his brother Harry, to which he replied: ‘That’s clearly obvious. Me. Because I’m bigger.’

They were promoting their mental health campaign Heads Together ahead of tomorrow’s London Marathon, for which it is the official charity.

Earlier yesterday Kensington Palace released a video of the couple speaking about mental health with Harry, in which the brothers admitted they had not spoken about their feelings after their mother Diana died in 1997.

Kate tells the brothers that despite everything ‘you boys obviously sadly went through, the trauma that you experienced’, they had remained ‘strong’.

William tells his wife: ‘ But we have been brought closer because of the circumstances as well, that’s the thing. You are uniquely bonded because of what we’ve been through. But even Harry and I over the years have not talked enough about our mother.’

And Harry, 32, admitted: ‘ Both of us have always been open to each other, we’ve never really talked about it, never really talked about losing a mum at such a young age.’

Harry revealed on Monday that he had come close to a breakdown, and mental health charity Mind said that its number of calls had increased by 38 per cent as a result of the prince speaking out.
