Daily Mail - - Good Health -

MANUKA honey could improve care for bowel patients.

It’s being included in the manufacture of stoma bags, which are used by many patients after surgery, temporarily or permanently, to collect waste.

However, the bags can trigger an allergic skin reaction. Manuka honey, which comes from New Zealand, is known for its antiinflammatory properties and it’s hoped this will reduce skin irritation. The bags are being trialled at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
