Moyes hints he may quit in the summer

- By CRAIG HOPE

DAVID Moyes has hinted for the first time that he could quit sunderland at the end of the season.

The scot has always insisted that he intends to stay, even if they are relegated to the Championship — which could happen today.

But yesterday he said: ‘I would say that I would make that decision at the end of the season because, at this moment in time, it would be the wrong time.

‘I just have a situation where we need to see how things are at the end of the season. It’s me saying I will assess the situation then.’

supporters have turned on Moyes in recent games and another hostile atmosphere awaits against Bournemouth today.

Moyes, though, has vowed not to hide and says he will not be forced out by the fans.

‘It won’t be because of the supporters,’ he said. ‘I totally appreciate supporters because I’m a football supporter, and I take responsibility.’

Moyes, who signed a fouryear deal in July, added: ‘I thought it would be a difficult season because four previous seasons had been very difficult. I didn’t see that we’d invested enough to change that.’
