Summer’s hottest fashion line (and believe it or not, it’s Boden!)

TOMORROW morning, women up and down the country will be poised over their computer keypads, credit cards at the ready.

Why? Because the third limited edition Boden range — Boden Icons — is released online. You’re forgiven if you haven’t come across the label before, given that previous collections have sold out at alarming speed.

Last time a Boden Icons range was released, 90 per cent of the stock had gone in just five days.

There’s no avoiding the fact that the collection is markedly more expensive than the usual bucket-and-spade Boden, but it is all hand-designed and made of premium fabrics, silk being particularly prominent. Design director Mariam Boutorabi

hopes each item will be worn for a lifetime. ‘i like to think of icons designs as the vintage classics of the future,’ she explains. ‘The sort of investment piece a mother might hand on to her daughter.’

The inspiration for this latest range is the Twenties.

‘it’s the era when women really learned to power dress,’ says Mariam. The 24-piece collection includes silk camisoles (£98), ruffled shirts in aquamarine (£150) and pretty printed silk dresses (around the £250 mark).

For those who like a stronger silhouette, the pleated palazzo pants (£180) and swishy pleated midi dress (£280) will get you noticed at a summer party.

Such was the disappointment among Boden devotees who couldn’t get their hands on the last icons collection that the company has promised a slightly bigger production run this season. However, according to Boden sources, that still only amounts to a few hundred of each item — and that’s to cover the entire globe ( don’t forget that the Americans — including Michelle obama — have woken up to Boden, too).

So why not set your alarm half an hour earlier tomorrow morning and bag your bit of fashion history . . . before Michelle beats you to it.
