Accrington at it again!

- By ADAM SHERGOLD

The Accrington Stanley chairman has refused to back down in his row with the Premier League over exorbitant agents’ fees and has told them to ‘ please themselves’ with their millions.

Andy holt spoke up for League Two clubs and the game’s grass roots on Tuesday after it emerged that Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola pocketed £41million from his client’s move from Juventus to Manchester United.

This prompted a furious response from the Premier League, who said the organisation ‘supports all clubs in the english Football League with solidarity payments’ and other funding.

They added: ‘ We will be writing to Mr holt to ask him if he wishes the Premier League to continue the support for his and other clubs in the eFL.’

holt responded on Twitter yesterday, saying: ‘I did not say that anything illegal or improper took place. I did say that the Premier League should be ashamed about this largesse when the pyramid is so stretched outside the top tier.

‘The Premier League threatened to stop any funding for eFL clubs. I class this as a threat too far. My response is that they can please themselves with their funds.’

holt, whose stance has been backed by Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony, told the BBC: ‘Football is in crisis. The lower league is struggling, and I’m not the only chairman who feels like this.’
