EVEN EX-LOVER DIANE ABBOTT IS AIRBRUSHING JEREMY OUT

-

SHE is one of his closest political allies and a former lover.

But even Diane Abbott is avoiding a mention of Jeremy Corbyn on her election leaflets.

The Shadow Home Secretary last month claimed most of Labour’s support was down to the popularity of party leader Mr Corbyn, but in campaign literature in her Hackney North and Stoke Newington constituency, his name is strangely absent.

One letter written by Miss Abbott name-checked the Prime Minister, with a pledge ‘to oppose Theresa May’s hard Brexit’. But instead of mentioning her party leader and how he could become prime minister, the veteran MP referred only to a future ‘Labour government’.

Yesterday Mrs May warned that Mr Corbyn benefited from all votes for Labour even if candidates were airbrushing his name from their campaigns.

The Prime Minister said: ‘Across the country, Labour candidates are disowning their leader.

‘But Jeremy Corbyn is happy to take a vote from them anyway. Because it may say Labour on the ballot, but it’s Jeremy Corbyn that says “thank you” for each vote.’
