÷ RADIO maker Filtronic soared after reporting that revenues and profit were ahead of expectations.

The firm makes radio components for wireless communication equipment and the defence and security sectors.

It said trading in its wireless arm in the last quarter was ahead of management expectations despite weakness in its broadband business. Total revenue is tipped to hit £35m for the year to May 31, alongside higher profits. Shares rose 33.8pc, or 3.4p, to 13.38p.
