SHE’S used to her romances playing out in the spotlight, dating a string of singers and Hollywood stars.
But for months Taylor Swift has been dating her new British beau – a former private schoolboy who still lives with his parents – in secret.
The US pop star, 27, has reportedly worn disguises when visiting Joe Alwyn, from North London, and travelled to the UK by private jet so her trips were not revealed.
Miss Swift was introduced to the relatively unknown actor by her close friend Emma Stone. The La La Land actress has been in Britain filming The Favourite – about the reign of Queen Anne – alongside Alwyn, 26.
The actor, who went to the fee-paying City of London School, is understood to still live in his parents’ £1.3million house in Crouch End.
Neighbour Tony Robinson yesterday said he was a ‘ very grounded young man’ who ‘still takes the Tube and doesn’t have a car’.
After studying English and drama at Bristol University, Alwyn attended the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
Yesterday his former classmate Jordan Bunton-Williams said the actor was a ladies’ man. He said: ‘He’s very charismatic, your classic Prince Charming.
‘Women want to throw themselves at him. He caught the eye of certain people in our class until they realised he was so married to his work.’
Alwyn’s first major role was along- side Kristen Stewart and Steve Martin in last year’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, directed by Ang Lee.
He also appeared in British film The Sense of an Ending, which was released in March.
Alwyn’s grandfather Jonathan yesterday said he had not been told about Miss Swift. He said: ‘He kept very quiet about it as far as I’m concerned.
‘I know he was in LA making a film for Ang Lee, which, alas, was not a very good film, but he got very nice notices for it and he’s just been in The Sense of an Ending. I’m sure he’s had girlfriends but I have no idea.’
His parents, documentary-maker Richard and psychotherapist Elizabeth, declined to comment yesterday.

Night Manager star Tom Hiddleston, 36, last year. The singer was previously in a one-year relationship with Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, 33, and also dated 23-year-old One Direction star Harry Styles.
Reports suggest that Miss Swift has put Alwyn up in a luxury rental home in London. A source told The Sun: ‘Taylor and Joe are the real deal, this is a very serious relationship.’
Representatives for Miss Swift and Alwyn did not respond to requests for comments yesterday.
