Don’t let attack divide us
AS A Muslim, I was heartbroken by the cowardly attack on peaceful people enjoying a night out in London on Saturday.
I am a British citizen of Somali descent. In common with all Muslims who have made their home in this country, we have been welcomed into the UK and treated equally. I am so grateful for British hospitality.
This barbaric act is an evil act of crime against humanity, and its goal is to damage the fabric of British society by dividing us. This act of terrorism is not to be blamed on or in any way associated with the religion of Islam, which means peace.
It is the mission of terrorists to alienate Muslims from mainstream society. That should not be allowed to be achieved: British people of all creeds should unite and stand together to defeat terrorism in all its forms.
